Project Overview:

The Courtyard by Marriott is a brand of hotels owned and operated by Marriott International that cater to business travelers. Most locations have full-service restaurants and “mini-marts” for the guests’ convenience. Since the 1980s, the Courtyard by Marriott has been a reliable hotel chain for business and leisure travelers alike. When their Portland, Oregon location lacked reliable cellular reception, they called us.

Unique Problems:

The hotel reached out to Harris Communications  because they lacked reliable cellular reception in their administrative offices, banquet rooms, and even some hallways. In this case, the area experiencing poor coverage was luckily limited to one section of the first floor of the hotel. Despite the limited affected area, the lack of coverage was hampering Marriott staff daily. It also hurt the experience of guests when parties and business engagements were being held in the banquet rooms.


Harris Communications was able to design a copper solution that covered the area most in need of cellular enhancement. In this particular case, the hotel’s construction made parts of the first floor effectively a “dead zone”. With this in mind, we designed and installed a multi-carrier solution to remedy the poor cellular coverage in the affected areas of the building. Our crew completed the installation on time and on budget, ensuring that the system was fully functioning prior to their departure.
