Harris Communications Honors Officers of the Quarter

Officers of the Quarter Fort Mill Police Department and Harris Communications

Officer of The Quarter

Harris Communications sponsors a quarterly recognition initiative with our partners at various local police departments. Our goal is to recognize the excellent work and dedication of select officers who go above and beyond the call of duty. This quarter, we partnered with the Fort Mill Police Department, an agency located near our headquarters in Rock Hill, SC. We were proud to present officers Sean Sercu and Rebecca Askew with Officer of the Quarter Awards.

Officers Sercu and Askew both maintain excellent relationships with the people they serve, and they were both selected by votes from their department. Usually we only select one officer of the quarter, but their department returned a split vote, and both of these officers have such strong reputations in their departments that we decided to award two officers this time around. Officers Sercu and Askew were presented with Yeti tumblers, tactical gear, and other goodies, all fitting nicely into heavy-duty Harris Communications 511 tactical patrol bags.

We appreciate the Fort Mill Police Department allowing us to honor their Officers of the Quarter. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the future!

Public Safety DAS / ERRCS

We often work with local law enforcement when installing ERRCS / Public Safety DAS in schools, to ensure that first responders are able to communicate by radio in the course of emergency situations. This includes hands-on field testing and problem solving, as nothing can be left to chance. We were impressed and grateful for the help we received from the Fort Mill Police Department during our recent installation of an ERRCS system for a local school district.

Every part of the country has different requirements and regulations regarding ERRCS. The local law enforcement organizations are always very helpful in making sure that we meet all of their requirements when we design a public safety DAS.

You can view a case study of a similar project here to learn about how ERRCS helps police departments and other first responders.

COPS Grants

Are you interested in securing a public safety DAS for your school? There is federal funding available through the COPS Technology and Equipment Program, which can be utilized by school districts across the country to help fund a new ERRCS/Public Safety DAS system at your school.

The funding must be applied for by the city or county, but average awards in years past have been valued in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Learn more at the COPS website. To get an even more in-depth look at the program, we suggest checking out their Award Owner’s Manual.

If you’re interested in an ERRCS or want to know more about what is required, please feel free to contact us directly.
